How Much Bamboo do I need for my Fence

Chain Link Fence

Tools:

  1. bamboo fence
  2. pliers
  3. extra wires

Steps:

  1. Read all instructions carefully.
  2. Ensure that your chain link posts are secure in order to support the bamboo fence.
  3. If necessary, straighten your chain link fence to ensure a proper fit.
  4. Roll your bamboo along the chain link fence. The top of the bamboo should be level.
  5. Firmly attach one end with zip-ties or wire, pull taught and attach panels to chain link fence.
  6. Attach the remaining portion of the bamboo panels with wires or zip ties - approximately every 2 feet.
  7. Now simply slip the wire around the bamboo, making sure you are twisting it around the chain link fence tightly.
  8. If you desire, cut off the remaining wires and do this at the top and bottom until the bamboo is stable and secured.

Existing Wood Fence

Tools:

  1. bamboo fence
  2. handheld drill
  3. and 2 ½" exterior screws

Steps:

  1. Read all instructions carefully.
  2. If your yard holds large amounts of moisture you may want to raise the bamboo 1 ½" off of the ground.
  3. First make sure your wood fence is on a strong foundation and is structurally sound (you can test the fence by wiggling it. If it doesn't move or sway back and forth you should be fine).
  4. The Bamboo will fasten on both sides of the fence. You can fasten the bamboo on the frame that supports the fence or wooden slots, its up to you.
  5. Now, roll out your bamboo and flatten it against your fence, making sure your holding the bamboo upright, this will insure an even fit to your wood fence.
  6. Get a trusted partner to hold the bamboo in place while your pre-drill in the center of one bamboo pole. Make sure you start at the top corner.
  7. Use the 2 ½" exterior screws to drill your bamboo to the wood panel or 2x4. Note: Try not to over-tighten the screw; this will save the bamboo from cracking.
  8. Now, continue to fasten the bamboo near the top and bottom while keeping the bamboo level. By alternating the screws near the top and bottom every foot will insure a structurally-sound bamboo fence. It's that simple!

Refurbishing your Brick, Block, or Concrete wall:

Tools:

  1. handheld drill
  2. concrete screws
  3. concrete drill bit
  4. 2x4's - preferably cedar or pine
  5. and a level.

Steps:

  1. Read all instructions carefully.
  2. Use a level and make 2 lines on the wall for the placement of the 2x4's. One line should be near the bottom, the other should be near the top.
  3. Pre-drill holes in the 2x4, approximately 3 feet apart.
  4. Hold the 2x4 along the lines you made in step 2, and make a mark on the wall where you pre-drilled the 2x4 holes.
  5. Pre-drill holes at the mark you made in step 4. Use a concrete drill bit and make the hole ¼" deep.
  6. Hold the 2x4 in place, insert the concrete screw into the 2x4 holes and drive the screw in with your drill.
  7. Once the 2x4's are firmly attached to the concrete wall, attach a bamboo fence to the 2x4's. See instructions for existing wood fence.
  8. Fasten four screws in each 2x4 and when you are finished, go back to step 5 on the wood fence instructions and follow all the way through. All done!
